Scams Awareness Project
We are delivering a new online scams web-chat service throughout Scotland. This service gives specialist one-on-one help to people who are worried they’re being scammed, and those who have already lost money. It also offers advice to those looking for information on how best to avoid scams.
Some people may feel embarrassed about reporting a scam, especially if they have fallen victim to one. But it’s important to remember that this is a crime that many people fall victim to and the embarrassment people may feel leads to many of the scams going unreported. The more people reporting scams, raises the awareness we have of what scams are out there making it easier to protect everyone. As always, our service is here to offer free, confidential and impartial advice on the next steps available.
This project also undertakes scams prevention work to identify, tackle and raise awareness of online scams.
This advice is currently only available via web-chat. If you follow this link https://www.cas.org.uk/scams-action and then click on where it says chat available on the right hand side of the page, you will be put through to one of our advisers.
This is available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
