We are delivering a new online scams web-chat and telephone service throughout Scotland. This service gives specialist one-on-one help to people who are worried they’re being scammed, and those who have already lost money. It also offers advice to those looking for information on how best to avoid scams.
Some people may feel embarrassed about reporting a scam, especially if they have fallen victim to one. But it’s important to remember that this is a crime that many people fall victim to and the embarrassment people may feel leads to many of the scams going unreported. The more people reporting scams, raises the awareness we have of what scams are out there making it easier to protect everyone. As always, our service is here to offer free, confidential and impartial advice on the next steps available.
This project also undertakes scams prevention work to identify, tackle and raise awareness of online scams.
This advice is available via web-chat and telephone. Web chat is available if you follow this link https://www.cas.org.uk/scams-action or contact the helpline on 0808 250 5050. The service is available Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.
