Financial Education Outreach Project - Mental Health
The project is to provide information, advice and assistance to people with mental health conditions. We will provided regular advice clinics, information and awareness raising session and one to one advice on income maximisation and financial education. This project will provide essential skills to vulnerable clients which will enable them to manage short and long term money issues e.g. budgeting, early debt intervention/prevention, different types of credit, understanding APR, identifying crisis debt whilst empowering clients to manage effectively future issues and find possible resolutions.
We will assist individuals with a view to enabling and empowering those who have mental health issues to become more confident with managing their money, opening bank accounts, effective budgeting and negotiating with third parties.
The project will have weekly surgeries for our partners at the Carers Centre, Care Leavers Group, Hawkhill Community Centre and Homestart.
We will work closely with local and national health services to develop the project within existing services, support networks and the overarching mental health framework in the county.
The project will have a limited resource to provide home visits for partner agency clients who have difficulty accessing services.
The project will provide reports and statistics to highlight local and national social policy issues that we come across that are affecting our clients.
This project is funded by The Bank of Scotland.
